How quickly can you put a cabling crew on site?

We mobilise in waves: a first team on site while the rest complete induction and documentation, so the job starts without waiting for the full roster. For UK sites that is typically within a week of a confirmed rate.

Which countries do you supply data centre crews in?

The United Kingdom, Ireland and mainland Europe from one UK contract, plus our own crews in Malaysia and Singapore for the Johor–Singapore corridor.

Do you handle cross-border compliance?

Yes. A1 certificates, posting declarations and local site cards — Carte BTP in France, SOKA-BAU in Germany, ECS and CSCS in the UK and Ireland — are completed before anyone travels.

Are your engineers vetted?

Every operative is checked before we offer them: identity and right to work, trade competence backed by references from previous sites, cards, tickets and medical fitness. The full pack is issued to the client before mobilisation.

Do you charge an introduction or transfer fee?

No. There is no finder's fee, and no transfer fee if a client later takes an engineer on directly after a fair qualifying period.

My Datacomms card renewal was refused. What now?

That is the 1 January 2026 withdrawal rather than a fault in the application. Datacomms cards were withdrawn for new applications in 2021 and for renewals from 2026, and Network Infrastructure cards replaced them. Which card you move to depends on the one you held — Advanced Datacomms Specialist maps to Network Infrastructure Advanced Installer, Technician to Supervisor, Designer to Designer. No. CSCS covers construction broadly; ECS is the electrotechnical and datacomms scheme and is what evidences competence for cabling work. Many data centre sites accept CSCS for general access but require ECS for the trade itself.

Not at Installer level. The Network Infrastructure Installer card is issued in a copper pathway and a fibre pathway, and the card names which. If a package needs both, the crew needs both — that is a booking-stage check, not something to discover at handover.

How long does a card take to obtain?

It depends entirely on whether the qualification evidence already exists. Where it does, the process is administrative. Where it does not, the qualification comes first, and that is measured in weeks or months. Which is precisely why this belongs in the conversation when a job is being booked rather than when a crew is being mobilised.

Which ECS card does a cabling engineer actually need?

Datacomms cards were withdrawn for renewal on 1 January 2026. If a renewal has been refused and nobody explained why, this is the reason — and this is exactly what replaces it.

This gets asked in a site car park with a crew standing idle, which is the worst possible moment to be looking for the answer. So here it is plainly, checked against the scheme itself rather than repeated from a forum.

ECS is the card scheme for the electrotechnical and datacomms industries. A card evidences occupational competence and health and safety knowledge, and most data centre and commercial sites will not pass an operative through the gate without one. It is not the same as CSCS, and a general CSCS labourer card does not evidence data cabling competence.

The change that catches people out is stated on the scheme's own site: ECS datacomms cards were withdrawn for new applications from 1 January 2021, and withdrawn for renewal applications from 1 January 2026. From that date they are replaced by Network Infrastructure ECS cards.

The practical consequence is expensive and quiet. A card that was fine last year cannot be renewed this year, and the first anyone hears about it is at a gate — after the travel, after the induction slot, on a day that was supposed to be productive.

Datacomms Designer → Network Infrastructure Designer

Direct replacement for the design-side card. Same function under the new scheme name.

Datacomms Technician → Network Infrastructure Supervisor

The technician card maps to Supervisor, which asks for supervisory experience and knowledge as well as time in the trade.

Advanced Datacomms Specialist → Network Infrastructure Advanced Installer

This is the one most working cabling engineers held. It maps to Advanced Installer, which sits on a recognised industry Level 3 Network Infrastructure qualification.

Installer (Level 3) splits copper and fibre

The Network Infrastructure Installer card is issued in two pathways. Copper covers UTP, STP, FTP, coaxial and common copper data cables; fibre covers single-mode and multi-mode. A crew doing both needs that reflected in the cards it carries rather than assumed.

The rest of the family

Apprentice, Trainee, Installation Assistant, Installer Gold Card, Advanced Installer, Supervisor, Manager and Designer. The card states the role, so a client reading it knows what the holder is assessed to do.

The assessment expires separately

The ECS Health, Safety and Environmental assessment sits alongside the qualification and runs on its own clock. It is a common reason a card application stalls even when the trade qualification is in order.
